Tyler Perry Studios is located at 3300 Continental Colony Parkway SW, Atlanta, GA 30331. Tyler Perry Studios, or TPS, was formed in 2006 by writer, director, and actor Tyler Perry. The studios were previously located at 99 Krog Street in Inman Park, Atlanta, before moving to its current location in 2008.
Tyler Perry Studios has a total area of about 200,000 square feet, which includes sets and offices. Oprah Winfrey, Sidney Poitier, Hank Aaron, Cicely Tyson, and Will Smith were among those who attended the studios’ grand opening.
Tyler Perry Studios has produced 14 stage plays, 16 films, five television programmes, and two books as of 2014. Mabel “Madea” Simmons is a central character in a number of plays and films. Madea is a sassy, pistol-wielding 70-year-old grandma played by Tyler Perry. Perry’s first film, “Diary of a Mad Black Woman,” grossed more than $50 million in theatres on a $5.5 million budget. “Madea’s Family Reunion,” the sequel, grossed $65 million.
34th Street Films, a studio for dramatic, non-comedy films produced but not authored by Tyler Perry, is housed within Tyler Perry Studios. “For Colored Girls” and “Tyler Perry Presents Peeples” are two films released by 34th Street Films.
