There are 120 holes on a standard cribbage board. The holes are arranged in four rows, each with 30 holes. Each player gets two rows of holes, which are marked off in groups of five. During the game, the players traditionally make two journeys up and down the board.
Cribbage is usually played with two players, although it can also be played with three or four. A 52-card deck is used in the game. Each participant has two pegs that he or she must place on the board. The pegs begin at the far end of the board and are used to record the scores of the players throughout the game.
