According to the Vancouver Aquarium, there is no phrase for a group of octopus because the mollusks are solitary. While some mollusc species, such as squid, live in groups while they are young, the octopus spends its entire life alone in underwater caves.
According to Nature Works, incirrata (finless) Octopus reside in very shallow sea water in rock crevices or caves along coastlines around the world, accounting for around 85% of them. Cirrata, or finned octopus, can be found in many of the world’s oceans, living from 1,000 to 24,000 feet below the surface. There are almost 200 different types of octopus.
