H2SO4(aq) + 2KOH(aq) –> K2SO4(aq) + 2H2O is a formula for neutralising H2SO4 with KOH (l). Sulfuric acid reacts with potassium hydroxide to produce salt and water.

The equation The neutralisation reaction of acidic sulfuric acid and alkaline potassium hydroxide is H2SO4(aq) + 2KOH(aq) –> K2SO4(aq) + 2H2O(l). When these two chemicals are combined, a solution of water (H2O) and potassium sulphate (a salt) is formed.

Potassium hydroxide is a strong base while sulfuric acid is a strong acid. The reaction is exothermic, which means that heat is produced as a consequence of the reaction.
