The United States Plastic Corporation’s 5-gallon pails have walls that are about.075 inches thick. The buckets are composed of high-density polyethylene and have received FDA approval.

The Home Depot sells 5-gallon plastic pails with a diameter of 12 inches, a height of 14.5 inches, and a depth of 13 inches. They aren’t approved for food storage. The buckets can be used for mixing paint, carrying or storing objects, and as a work site utility pail.
