When someone writes “mhm” in a text message, it signifies that they agree with what the other person has said. It’s a texting and Internet slang way of responding to someone with “yeah,” “uh huh,” “I agree,” or “ok.”

When said aloud, the texting term “mhm” sounds like the mouth humming sound “mm-hmm” that someone makes when nodding and agreeing with someone else.

In texting and abbreviated Internet lingo, “mhm” is also used in a few less common ways. “Members aiding members,” “mile high music,” “married Hispanic male,” “melon head man,” and “metal heads mission” are all examples of “mhm.”
