Egypt’s Pharaoh Khufu died of an unexplained cause. His reign is thought to have begun around 2589 B.C. and ended around 2566 B.C. Because few records from that period have survived, nothing is known about Khufu.
Khnum-Khufu, Khufu’s full name, is best known for his affiliation with the Great Pyramid of Giza, commonly known as the Pyramid of Khufu. During his reign, the pyramid was most likely built, and its initial function may have been to house Khufu’s tomb. The majority of specialists believe Khufu was buried in the pyramid, but the specific location of his remains is uncertain.
