As of 2014, the United States devoured 8 billion chickens per year, equating to 21,917,808 birds a day. Every year, Americans consume 25 billion chicken wings, with 1.25 billion (or 100 million pounds) consumed during Super Bowl weekend alone.

Chicken wings are consumed three times as much on Super Bowl Sunday as they are on any other Sunday of the year. In the United States, 50 billion eggs are produced each year. A single hen may lay 325 eggs each year on average. At 19 billion chickens, or three chickens per person, the global average stock of chickens is substantially lower.
